Message from Founder and President, Sheila Carter

head shotThe mission at Heartsong Memory Care is to be the best friend we can to those affected by dementia, including their families and caregivers, by providing affordable excellent care, service, and information.

Heartsong, which is located in the Southwest area of Louisville, began as a family business concept and continues to involve family members in daily operations. We are a locally owned organization with deep roots in the community. Our goal is to provide a warm and safe environment for your loved one, providing peace of mind for the family and caregivers.

I received a BS in Nursing from The University of Louisville and a Masters in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on Community Health Nursing Administration from Loyola University Chicago. I have over 25 years’ experience in the care of older adults, from intensive care nursing, home health, adult day care and nursing home, to the last 12 years focusing on secured dementia care in the licensed Personal Care Home setting. My parents set an example of service and devoted much time to helping others. Little did I know, as a child, when I carried food prepared by my mom down the street to our frail older neighbors, I was beginning my senior-care career!

I am a Certified Master Trainer for The Best Friends TM Approach to Dementia Care and all personnel at Heartsong are fully trained in the special needs of people with dementia. And it was important to me that Heartsong also be a licensed healthcare facility, allowing our staff nurses to provide care as needed to our residents and day care participants.

I know that you are facing a very important decision for your loved one. Come visit and see why our residents and their families are thanking us for bringing Heartsong Memory care to the Louisville community.
